AI for law firms

AI your partners can defend. Inside confidentiality and supervision.

Most Australian law firms use AI to answer questions and draft, then stop. The firms moving ahead start with governance: what staff already use, which tools are safe for client matters, and who checks the output.

36.7%

of Victorian lawyers surveyed use AI tools in their legal practice. Over half of them use AI daily or weekly.

95.5%

agree lawyers have a duty to make sure their AI use complies with their professional obligations.

The questions partners ask us

Is it safe to put client matters into AI at all?

Our staff are probably using personal accounts. How do we find out?

We already pay for Copilot. Do we need anything else?

How do we supervise work that AI helped draft?

Will this turn our work into a race to the bottom on fees?

How do we bring the partners along?

Your rules first

We start with your obligations, not the tools.

Australian legal regulators have warned against putting confidential client information into public AI tools. In a joint statement in December 2024, the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner, the Law Society of NSW and the Legal Practice Board of WA said lawyers cannot safely enter confidential, sensitive or privileged client information into public AI chatbots.

Supervision, privilege and costs disclosure still apply when AI helps with the work. Every setup is designed around them from day one.
